Spring Launch Process

Purpose: To inspect the major functions listed below and ensure that the vessel performs well during initial test running.

Points to remember:

  1. A pre-launch inspection does not eliminate and is not designed to identify all regular maintenance requirements.
  2. Brennan Marine is not responsible for any fuel, wear and tear or failures of any kind that take place during boat handling, inspection or operation.
  3. Standard pre-launch inspections check the functions noted below.
  4. The launch process is designed to note signs of malfunction but does not suggest that all engine functions, passages, accessories, gauges or fittings are inspected or proven during this testing.
  5. More thorough inspection is available upon request.
  6. Batteries are charged before testing and are proven as reliable only at the time of test running.

Process:

  1. Boat is loaded on trailer from yard and shrink wrap is removed.
  2. Any painting or exterior waxing cleaning is performed.
  3. Battery is checked and charged if necessary.
  4. All gauges and lights and accessories are inspected for power-up.
  5. Helm is inspected to ensure steering response.
  6. Main water circulating hoses, ignition components and drains are inspected.
  7. Lower unit and engine oil/fluid levels are inspected.
  8. Oiling reservoirs for OB's are checked and filled at this time.
  9. Boat plug is installed and boat is launched.
  10. Engine is started / idled dockside and observed for proper operation.
  11. Water stream visually inspected on OB's while manifolds are manually inspected on IO's to ensure cooling system is functioning.
  12. Boat is fueled as required.
  13. Boat is idled out of harbor while gauges are monitored for operation within expected ranges.
  14. Engine cooling re-inspected while leaving harbor by 'stream' or manual manifold inspection.
  15. Boat is water tested for roughly 10mins up to 80% throttle, while continuing to monitor all gauges.
  16. Boats that do not perform to standard are inspected accordingly and client is informed.
  17. Any boats showing sign of lubrication, fueling or cooling failures are inspected on water and towed back if necessary.
  18. Once boat has performed satisfactorily, cleaning and delivery are completed upon request.
